Sunday March 29 @ 10:30 am

A powerful, confusing service! Are there times when you feel close to Jesus and other times you forget about Him? We begin by remembering common citizens of Jerusalem cheering and waving palm branches to acknowledge Jesus as their leader. We do the same. Then 10 minutes later we join the crowd shouting for Pilate to CRUCIFY HIM!!

Thursday April 2nd @ 7pm

We consider how the disciples might have reacted through speakers describing each disciple and expressing a reaction. In doing so we are challenged to consider if we have betrayed Jesus by ignoring Him. Or maybe, how often we have betrayed Jesus by ignoring Him.

We then seek to get a tiny sense of how they might have felt after Jesus was arrested by removing or covering all symbols of His presence with us. Called ‘stripping the altar’, this follows immediately after the “Living Last Supper”.

So what does Maundy‍ ‍mean anyway? During this meal, the Last Supper, Jesus did and said many things. Among them was “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34) The word ‘maundy’ comes from the word ‘commandment’. (It seems like “loving one another” is more difficult now then ever!)

Friday April 3rd @ 7pm

Jesus was tried, convicted, tortured, ridiculed, and nailed to a cross. That was a very painful death as His legs grew too tired to hold Him up. Then His lungs could not get enough air.

Our Good Friday service remembers Jesus' crucifixion. It is unlike any other service we do. It is powerful and dark and sets the stage for the glory of Easter morning.

There is one puzzling question, what’s ‘good’ about Good Friday? The title comes from an old English expression. In this context ‘good’ means ‘holy’ or ‘blessed’. Essentially it is ‘God’s Friday.

Fascinating question - is Good Friday the most important day of the year???? After all, Easter does not happen without the Good Friday crucifixion. Christmas doesn’t matter if Jesus is not God. Without Good Friday Jesus is just another prophet. hmmmmmm

Why Jesus went through this and the implications for us are discussions for another day. Today we focus on the horror of Jesus’ last few hours.

Saturday April 4th @ 10am

Yes — we are cheating a bit! We are jumping into the joy while the calendar is still focused on the sorrow. But we believe Jesus would understand because He loves children so much!

The day will begin at 10 am with games and fun things to do. Chairs will be available for parents! 😄 A special, unusual way to color eggs will be offered. And then the hunt for eggs begins at 11!

Sunday April 5th @ 10:30

The tomb was empty!! That is the central statement for Christians. God raised Jesus from the dead!!

Why? To change the relationship between humans and God. Fleshing this out (pardon the pun) takes time in a community of friends. Our Father Lutheran church might be that for you.

Interestingly … women were the first to see and be told about His resurrection. And women were the first to tell about His resurrection. Does that make women the first preachers? 🤷😉

Please join us for the joyful Easter celebration!

& stay for the brunch afterwards

10:30 am @ 3304 Groometown Rd., Greensboro (one turn off I-85)

Everyone welcome! And everyone is welcome to take communion.

Remember — Easter is the beginning. Not the end. We would love to stay in touch with you and look for ways we can grow together.
